Ooredoo Maldives has launched Niru Accelerator for start-ups run by entrepreneurs who are working towards social change. Niru supports a sustainable business by providing access to resources, seed funding and connecting to mentors with connections to useful networks.

Niru Accelerator provides participants with seed funding, a twelve-week long, intensive mentor-based learning program, co-working space, digital tools for building a business and the essential technical support from experts. At the end of the programme, each startup receives the chance to pitch for more investments.

Niru connects participants to lifelong partnerships and opportunities even after the end of the accelerator programme, making them part of a community working towards a better world. To take part in Niru Accelerator, interested innovators will need to take part in the Ooredoo Hackathon in early August.

The Hackathon will guide participants on idea generation, foundations of business, and provide the digital tools to build an initial prototype. After pitching their prototypes, an expert panel of judges will select the top teams who will then gain entry into the Niru Accelerator programme. Founders of the teams moving to the accelerator stage must be able to commit twelve weeks full time to the programme, which is scheduled from October onwards.

Ooredoo Maldives formerly known as Wataniya Telecom Maldives is part of the multinational Ooredoo Group which launched its services in the Maldives on the 1st of August 2005.
