Alia Investments Pvt Ltd has signed up as a Gold Partner for Maldives Travel Awards 2018, acquiring the title sponsorship rights for the Maldives Travel Awards Guesthouse Edition 2018.

The partnership agreement which marks the second year for the collaboration between Maldives Travel Awards and Alia was signed by the company and the organiser Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) on 31st July at the office headquarters of Alia Investments.

Introduced last year, the Guesthouse Edition builds on the recognition awarded to guesthouses by MATATO as part of the Maldives Travel Awards and celebrates the outstanding performance of the guesthouse sector.

Winners for the Guesthouse Edition are selected from a combination of popular vote (60 per cent) and traveller ratings (40 per cent), which is based on data provided by the worlds largest travel website Tripadvisor.

Nomination for the Guesthouse Edition was closed in May with 111 entries in 15 categories, representing more than 60 businesses operating in the guesthouse sector. Voting for the shortlisted guesthouses and related businesses has also closed.

MATATO and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (GAM) will jointly host a gala ceremony in August in the satellite town of Hulhumale, which is home to a majority of the guesthouses in the Maldives, to announce the winners.
