The Nautilus Foundation has unveiled scholarship opportunities aimed at fostering capacity building in the Maldives. The announcement was made during a recent press conference led by Secretary General Mohamed Khaleel, who highlighted that the scholarships are fully funded.
The foundation is offering scholarships in four key areas:
- Medical specialization
- Commercial Cookery Certificate Level 3
- Mass Communication Undergraduate Degree
- Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance Program
Secretary General Khaleel confirmed that six students will be awarded scholarships this year, emphasizing the foundation's commitment to prioritizing fields where there is a significant need for trained professionals. Currently, 12 students are benefiting from similar scholarships, with the foundation closely monitoring their academic progress.
A key stipulation of the scholarship program is that recipients will be required to work in the Maldives for a minimum of three years upon completing their studies. This requirement aims to ensure that the Maldivian society reaps the benefits of having skilled locals in essential sectors.
Applications for the scholarships can be submitted via the Nautilus Foundation’s website, with a deadline set for November 30, 2024.
The Nautilus Foundation, established in memory of the late Dr. Ibrahim Umar Manik, a distinguished figure in the tourism industry, is jointly operated by stakeholders from Plus Hotels and Resorts, Manta Air, Dhaalu Airport, Eagle Marine, Roello Travel, Nova Maldives, and Male’ Aerated Water Company (MAWC). Through these initiatives, the foundation continues to contribute significantly to the development of essential skills in the Maldives.
