The MNACI Builder Awards 2023, evaluated by a panel of esteemed business visionaries with industry expertise, have solidified their independent and credible reputation. 

This distinguished recognition is bestowed upon outstanding achievements in construction services that meet rigorous international standards. The awards aim to honor individual excellence, corporate proficiency, and projects that exemplify forward-thinking approaches for the future.

Mr. Mauroof Jameel (Chief Judge)

Mr. Mauroof Jameel, is an architect, independent researcher and an illustrator specializing in architectural heritage of the Maldives. He is also a consultant/lecturer at the Maldives National University and the principal local consultant for the UNESCO World Heritage Nomination of the Coral Stone Mosques of Maldives. During his 30-year career, he served the Maldives government in high-level posts, such as cabinet minister, contributing to the development of the construction, infrastructure and housing sector of the country. He played pioneering roles in the development of Hulhumale’, Hulhumale’ Development Corporation and Housing Development Finance Corporation of Maldives. He is also the immediate past president of the Architects Association Maldives. His current research focuses on coral stone mosques, traditional houses, and resorts of the Maldives. His work is presented through many publications, exhibitions and he is known for his work on the coral stone mosques of Maldives.

Mr. Adnan Haleem

Mr. Adnan Haleem, the Secretary General of the Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI), has been an integral part of the organization since 2004. With a commitment to advancing the interests of the Maldivian construction industry, MNACI, established on October 30, 2001, benefits from Adnan's extensive experience. In addition to Adnan’s roles as the past Vice President (2004-2009 and 2011-2020) and President of MNACI in 2010, he has also contributed significantly to the international construction community. As a judge at the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractor’s Association (IFAWPCA), Adnan played a role in evaluating and recognizing the achievements of contractors from Korea, Japan, and Malaysia. Adnan's dedication extends to ensuring the promotion of industrial, contractual, and technical needs while elevating the standards of the Maldivian construction industry on a global scale.

Ms. Mariyam Eeman

With over a decade long career spanning back to 2012, Ms. Mariyam Eeman with educational background in the field of interior architecture, currently serves as the Director of United Development Pvt Ltd. She has helped establish the company as a distinguished technical and management consultancy. United Development has earned a credible reputation for its accomplishments in various facets of airports and related infrastructure, including architectural and engineering services, project management, urban planning and design, airport planning and development, and marine infrastructure. In addition to her leadership role, Ms. Eeman contributed to the academic realm as an associate lecturer at Maldives National University for 9 years. Her influence further extends as she holds a directorial position at Silica Company Pvt Ltd, a leading supplier of sanitary ware, ceramics, and other design products in the Maldives.

Mr. Mahjoob Shujau

Mr. Mahjoob Shujau is a seasoned professional with a rich background in project management. As the former Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Project Director at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure, he has showcased resourcefulness and self-motivation in coordinating and overseeing intricate development projects. His expertise spans various phases of project management, including feasibility studies, planning, budget management, and successful implementation. Mr. Shujau is proficient in areas such as leadership, cost control, process optimization, vendor negotiation, quality control, and FIDIC contracting.

Mr. Ibrahim Rafeeq

Mr. Ibrahim Rafeeq is the Managing Director of Rainbow Construction, a prominent company in the Maldives since its establishment in 2002. With a wealth of experience and the support of the Rainbow Group, he has led the company to great success, overseeing the completion of over 70 residential and commercial projects. Additionally, Mr. Rafeeq served as the Minister of Housing and Urban Development in the Maldivian government from 2005 to 2008, contributing to the nation's urban development during his tenure.

Mr. Mohamed Azim

With over 20 years of expertise in the fields of mapping, land development, and management, Mr. Mohamed Azim’s extensive career in urban and regional planning, particularly in the inhabited islands of the Maldives, reflects his commitment to social housing development. From 2014 to 2023, he played a pivotal role as the Director General at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure. Later, he served as the Deputy Minister and Chairman of the Board at Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation Limited from 2018 to 2023 and 2019 to 2023, respectively. Mr. Azim holds a Bachelor of Science in Land Planning and Development from the University of Otago (2002-2004) and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the International Islamic University Malaysia (2009-2012).

MNACI Builder Awards 2023 was successfully held, recognizing the excellent service and contributions of the Maldives building and construction industry on December 24, 2023 at Hotel Jen, Male’. An initiative by the Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI), the prestigious awards were presented in 5 categories, including special recognition awards; Lifetime Achievement Award and  MNACI Honorary Award 'Bodu Rasgefaanuge Lagab'. 

Winners included: 

Contractor of the Year - Alia Construction and Amin Construction

Project Delivery Award - Bison Maldives

Cement Supplier - Villa Hakatha

Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to two winners, Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah, President, MNACI and Abdulla Mohamed, Managing Director, Amin Construction. 

Lastly, the MNACI Honorary Award 'Bodu Rasgefaanuge Lagab' was presented to HEP Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for achieving substantial advances in the Maldives' building sectors throughout his term as the Housing Minister and the Mayor of Malé City.
