MATATO Hosts Destination Stand for Maldives at India International Travel Mart 2018

Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) have successfully hosted a destination stand for the Maldives at the Bangalore Edition of India International Travel Mart 2018, which was held in Bangalore, India from 27- 29th July 2018.


Ten Maldivian companies were featured at the event which marked the 4th travel trade event for this year, hosted by MATATO in India under Indian Market Strategy initiative an exclusive destination marketing campaign that aims to attract 100,000 tourists from India by the end of 2018. 


Under this initiative, MATATO has so far staged travel trade events in major Indian metropolises, Including Delhi and Mumbai. In May 2018 MATATO hosted an exclusive destination showcase event for the Maldives in Mumbai.


The India International Travel Mart, established in 1998 is one of Indias leading travel and tourism events. The event shall see tourism boards from India and abroad, airlines and cruise liners, travel agents and tour operators, online travel portals, hotels and resorts, Travel media and others using the event to display and market their product range.


In addition to the Bangalore Exhibition Simultaneously MATATO also simultaneously hosted a destination showcase in Colombo, Sri Lanka in association with High Rise Maldives at Taj Samudra Colombo from 26th and 27th July 2018.


Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) is a non-profit organisation that has been working the last ten years to foster and promotes SMEs of local travel agents.


The association has engaged themselves in various activities over the years from advocacy, training, and workshops, travel trade fairs in many parts of the world, media FAM trips, government lobbying, recognition programs such as Awards, travel conferences and forums, publications, destination marketing, whistle-blower programs, representation and much more.
