The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has announced the Maldives' outstanding success at the prestigious World Travel Awards (Indian Ocean category) held during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Center today.
The Maldives secured victory in four coveted categories:
- Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2024
- Indian Ocean's Leading Honeymoon Destination 2024
- Indian Ocean's Leading Green Destination 2024
- Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination 2024
Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards are globally recognized as a pinnacle of excellence in the travel and tourism industry. These awards celebrate exceptional achievements in various facets of travel and tourism on an international scale.
During the ceremony, held earlier today at the World Travel Awards Winners Hub at ATM, notable individuals from the Maldives were honored. Mr. Ibrahim Faisal, Minister of Tourism, graciously accepted the award for Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2024, while Ms. Ayesha Nurain Janah, Chairperson of the MMPRC Board, accepted the award for Indian Ocean's Leading Honeymoon Destination 2024. Ms. Fathmath Thaufeeq accepted the award for Indian Ocean's Leading Green Destination 2024. Additionally, Mr. Mohamed Khaleel, Advisor to the President on Tourism Development, proudly received the Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination 2024 award.
Since the introduction of the Indian Ocean category in the World Travel Awards in 2003, the Maldives has achieved remarkable success, securing the Leading Destination title 17 times, Leading Honeymoon Destination 6 times, and Leading Dive Destination an impressive 9 times. Notably, 2024 marks the inaugural year the Maldives has been acknowledged as a Green Destination, highlighting our steadfast commitment to sustainable tourism.
These prestigious awards further enhance the Maldives' reputation as a top luxury destination, resonating with visitors worldwide. They serve as a testament to visitors' admiration and confidence in the Maldives, propelling us closer to achieving the esteemed title of World's Leading Destination.
