Maldives will Reach its Target of 1.5 Million Tourists by the end of November

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has announced that the goal of receiving 1.5 million tourists by the end of the year 2019 is expected to be fulfilled by the last week of November 2019.

Speaking at a press conference held today regarding MMPRCs ongoing and upcoming plans, the companys Managing Director Thoyyib Mohamed said, "We will be achieving our target one month ahead. During the last week of this November, the 1.5 millionth visitor will set foot on the Maldivian soil."

Mr. Thoyyib further expressed that this is a huge accomplishment to the government and therefore, this achievement needs to be celebrated on a large scale.

Various events have been organized by MMPRC throughout the year to promote Maldives as a tourist destination. Until now, 23 fairs have been held targeting 21 markets, in addition to the Roadshows that have been conducted in 33 cities.

Moreover, 16 FAM Trips organized by MMPRC in 2019 have brought in numerous media teams from other countries with the opportunity to explore and increase the exposure of the destination in the international market. Furthermore, MMPRC has held 5 promotions in collaboration with major companies and airlines in this year.

So far, the Maldives has received fifteen awards as a tourist destination in the year 2019. MMPRC reveals that additional promotional activities have been planned for the month. These events include, 2 Roadshows in 8 cities, Visibility Campaigns in UAE and more. Some of the activities are said to be in the works with the National Geographic Travel Magazine as well.

MMPRC Managing Director Thoyyib Mohamed informs that the number of tourists visiting Maldives have been increasing each year and there has been an increase of 16 percentage for the year 2019 compared to last year.

Many promotional events have been arranged for 2020; participating in over 27 Fairs and they will also be conducting more than 13 Roadshows in major cities.
