Rossiya Airlines to Commence Direct Flights to Maldives

Rossiya Airlines will be commencing flight operations to the Maldives via its direct route, from Moscow to Male’ starting November 14, 2020. 

In a tweet posted by the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the company informed that the new airline will operate one weekly flight using B747-400 aircraft to Velana International Airport till March 27 of 2021. Each weekly flight of Rossiya Airlines will be operated on Saturdays. 

Part of the Aeroflot Group, Rossiya Airlines is currently one of the largest air carriers in Russia with a fleet of 54 aircraft flying to 53 destinations.  

Furthermore, the airports company also reported that the Russian airline, Aeroflot will be increasing its weekly frequencies to the Maldives starting November 21. With the added frequency, the airline will operate 8 flights a week from SVO Russia to Velana International Airport. 

Russia is currently ranked among the top 10 countries in terms of arrivals amidst the pandemic and is expected to increase the arrivals with the recent resumption of flights from Russia to Maldives.
