LUX* South Ari Atoll has been awarded Leading Eco-Friendly Resort in the Maldives at the 2019 South Asian Travel Awards (SATA), held at Amari Galle in Sri Lanka on 20 September 2019. The prestigious award was received by LUX* Resorts & Hotels representative Mario Attanayake, Business Development Manager at Viluxur Holidays. All winners of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry were officially announced during the fourth edition of the regional travel awards, with more than 500 travel and tourism businesses operating in the South Asian region nominated.

Voting for the nominees closed in July 2019, whilst nominee evaluations were conducted by a four member jury in major cities in the region, including Colombo, Bangalore, New Delhi, Kathmandu and Dhaka.

SATA is the first ever regional travel awards endorsed by multi national associations, providing the tourism sector of the South Asian region with recognition towards their facilities and service excellence. It aims to encourage and raise service standards in the regions tourism industry.

"We have recently launched the worlds largest solar sea panels by Swimsol, and this is just the start of the many initiatives we plan to undertake to care for our planet. Sustainable development is at the core of everything we do, and we will continue to take full responsibility for as long as we exist. This award is so important for us as we pave the way for Eco-tourism, and we could not be prouder. A big thank you to each and every vote and to the SATA jury for encouraging our hard work" says Jonas Amstad, General Manager at LUX* South Ari Atoll
