Maldives Tourism Conference held at Crossroads Maldives

The Tourism Conference 2019 was held as part of the celebrations to commemorate World Tourism Day at Crossroads Maldives in Emboodhoo Lagoon.

During the ceremony, Tourism Minister Ali Waheed revealed governments plans to further increase and develop tourism facilities in all parts of the country. The ministry has inspected all tourism related places to find any issues that needs to be overcome.  

Minister Waheed acknowledged the contributions made by the industry to promote tourism in the Maldives for the past forty-seven years and mentioned that the tourism industry financially assisted with the tourism day celebrations.

Chairman of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) Ahmed Umar Manik was the guest of honor at the conference.

From the events carried out as part of the tourism day celebrations, the Minister talked about how the Maldives broke the Guinness World Record on the greatest number of people free-diving simultaneously with the President of Maldives participating as well.

Over the last 47 years since the beginning of Tourism in the Maldives, right now Maldives is one of the most popular tourism destinations known around the globe despite a slow beginning. Ahmed Umar Manik highlighted the efforts given by MATI to train professionals for the industry in his speech at the ceremony.

Discussions on environmental issues and opportunities for local craftsmen and artists will be conducted during the conference on penal discussions. The target audience of the Tourism Conference is the stakeholders in the tourism industry.
