Singapore Airlines first Dreamliner B787-10 aircraft landed this evening
at Velana International Airport(VIA). The aircrafts configuration includes 36
Business Class seats and 301 Economy class seats. Dreamliner aircrafts are the most fuel
efficient aircrafts which can fly up to 8000 nautical miles non-stop.
On the evening of March 28, 1984 amidst a backdrop of glamour and
anticipation, an inaugural B747 landed to then Male International Airport.
Since then on, for the past 35 years, Singapore Airlines has been crossing Asia
from Maldives to Europe and most places in between. Today, as the world's
leading and respected travel Brands, Singapore Airlines offer the most
extensive choice of journeys across the region. Between
Singapore airlines and Silk Air 18 flights per week is scheduled from Singapore
to Maldives.
A water salute was given to welcome Singapore Airlines first B787-10 Dreamliner
and a ceremony was held at the Maamehi Executive lounge to celebrate the
arrival of this magnificent aircraft. The Singapore Airlines cabin crew was
presented garlands at the lounge and corporate gifts were exchanged between Singapore
Airlines and Maldives Airports Company Ltd.
The ceremony was attend by Chief Guest, Maldives Marketing and PR Corporations
Managing Director Mr. Thoyyib
Mohamed, Acting Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) Mr.
Moosa Solih , Chief Executive of Maldives Civil Aviation Authority Mr. Hussain
Jaleel and Singapore Airlines General Manager Mr. Ahmad Zuhri. The ceremony was
also attended by staff of MACL and Singapore Airlines ground staff. The
evening ceremony was concluded with a photo shoot session and light
refreshments.
