The Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Yumna Maumoon
has attended the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture which was held
from the 12th to 14th March 2019, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The summit was said to be attended by 432 delegates from 82 nations. It was organized
by the International Federation of Arts Council and Cultural Agency.
Deputy Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Mohamed Ikram
and Director General Hawwa Nazla accompanied Honorable Minister Yumna on this
visit.
The slogan for this years summit was, "Mobile Minds:
Culture, Knowledge, and Change".
The Ministry also informed press that the summit was
attended by researchers, policy makers and experts in the fields of arts and
heritage.
It was reportedly said that the summit will be holding talks
and important discussions about the development and actions plans which concern
the topics, which are currently taking place in many countries all over the
world. Furthermore, the discussions were said to have involved a modern approach
in the progression of arts and heritage.
The World Summit on Arts and Culture provides a platform for
the gathering of several organizations, associates and concerned delegates of
different countries, to voice their concerns about the issues regarding heritage
and culture.
The Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage has said that the Summit provided the opportunity for Maldives to strengthen ties between other nations in the field of arts and heritage. This gathering was also said to have opened doors for the progress of the field, for Maldivians.
