Sri Lanka gains exposure at the Swiss International Holiday Exhibition

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has participated in the Swiss International Holiday Exhibition in Lugano, Switzerland held from 1-2 November 2019.

The event was a success with the contribution of Sri Lankan hoteliers, travel agents and industry individuals through their participation in the event. Sri Lanka Ambassador to Switzerland Gothami Silva and Tharaka Botheju, First Secretary (Commercial) of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Switzerland represented the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in addition to the officer managing the Swiss Market SLTPB.

Traditional dance performances of Sri Lanka were highlighted at the fair.  A tea counter was established to serve the guests the best of Ceylon tea, with its fresh aroma and special taste. 

Sri Lankas natural attractions and unique culture impressed the visitors and they showed interest in vacationing at the island nation.

Additionally, SLTPB scored advertisements on four mega banners at the entrance of the event, being an eye catcher to numerous visitors who attended.

The Sri Lanka stall was officially opened by, Sri Lanka Ambassador to Switzerland Gothami Silva on 1 November by lighting the traditional oil lamp amongst a distinguished gathering. Sri Lankas participation was a collaborative effort by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau with the support of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Switzerland.

Sri Lanka was recognised as A place of Charm, that works towards the future by the Swiss Tourism Awards at the Swiss International Tourism Fair. The SLTPB received this special award of recognition, which highlighted Sri Lanka as a unique tourism destination with a lot of potential.
