Maldives National Association
of Construction Industry (MNACI) has elected Mohamed Ali Janah as the president
of the association. He was elected at
the associations 17th annual general assembly held on the evening
of the 19th of March at Hotel Jen, with the unanimous votes of all
80 members present at the function. This will be Janahs eighth term as
president.
Speaking at the
ceremony after his election, Janah, who always played a vital role in establishing
MNACI, mentioned that there will be new efforts during the term to further strengthen
the association. The association will be giving special attention and detail to
reforming the construction industry so as to not have any more
construction-related incidents due to lack of attention towards safety.
"I intend to make it mandatory for all
association members to complete a basic safety course, if not, their membership
will be suspended. I will present this proposal to the board", said Janah.
The newly elected president noted that in the
previous term, his predecessors stressed that MNACI aimed to resolve the challenges
faced by small and medium enterprises.
"What we need are innovative ideas. I will
try to build the relationship between construction companies despite the
competitiveness that exists between these companies. We have always cooperated
with the government to develop the country. Hopefully, MNACI will also remain
behind President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the same regard", quoted Janah.
During the assembly,
the board and executive committee of the association were elected as well. Alau
Ali from ALIA Investments and Abdulla Salih from Damas company were elected as
vice presidents and former Vice President, Adnan Haleem was elected as the
secretary General.
IN addition to this.
MNACIs top financial contributors were recognized, and included Janah, Alau,
Abdulla Salih and Abdulla Mohamed of Amin of Construction.
