Universal Foundation has partnered with Villa College to
launch the annually held 'Discover Hospitality' programme set to train
participants in the field of tourism and hospitality.
During a ceremony held at Villa College, Universal
Foundation President Iyaz Waheed signed the 'Discover Hospitality' MoU on
behalf of the company, while Rector Dr. Ahmed Anwar signed on behalf of Villa
College.
Applications have been opened for individuals above the age
of 16 to apply for the programme. A total of 40 slots will be offered for the
participants.
Maldives Hospitality industry is in continual need for
skilled personnel who are capable of carrying out operations effectively and
efficiently in par with established standards. This requires people with
explicit knowledge and skills in their areas of operations, who can pleasantly
engage with customers. This programme is fully funded by Universal Foundation
and conducted in association with Villa College and Universal Resorts. During
the four-month study period students will get monthly pocket money of MVR
3,000.00 (three thousand).
The participants will be selected by a board composed with
members from Universal Foundation, Universal Resorts and Villa College.
Discover Hospitality Programme is fully accredited Certificate III level programme
in Maldives Qualification Authority.
The Programme provides a distinctive learning experience to
participants through a combination of knowledge and practical skills that are
highly valued and recognised by the industry in the field of hospitality operations.
Candidates undergo extensive skills training activities and demonstrate their
knowledge and skills by applying them at the placement settings. Building
workplace etiquettes and promoting proper ethical values are important aspects
of this programme.
The programme produces individuals who are work-ready, who
are capable of undertaking key responsibilities at service level and are
willing to contribute towards the evaluation and improvement of practices and
processes at their establishments. Work-placed learning provides an excellent
opportunity to master these skills and provide well rounded individuals who are
fit to todays hospitality establishments.
Discover Hospitality programme aims to harness Hospitality
work-placed learning by offering it along with rigorous knowledge and skills
building modules. The programme is designed to produce individuals who are
work-ready, who are capable of undertaking key responsibilities at service
level and are willing to contribute towards the evaluation and improvement of
practices and processes. The programme prepares candidates to pursue further
education in the field of Hospitality and related industry.
The Universal Foundation works directly and in partnership
with both private and public organisations to sustain and develop programs
which will enhance the channels through which Maldivians can expand their
opportunities.
