Year after year on June 5 and June 8, Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa celebrates two of the most significant annual events for positive environmental action - World Environment Day and World Oceans Day respectively. Both events encourage the resort to build awareness and drive actions towards reducing plastic consumption globally under the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution".

This year, Vilamendhoo guests joined in a tree-planting activity in a bid to plant the future, an activity that will allow guests to see their plant and efforts grow on every return to the resort, over the coming years. The activity was followed by an informative, behind-the-scenes tour of Vilamendhoos operation, giving insight into how the resort maintains sustainable operations from the Fresh Water and Water Bottling Plants using glass bottles instead of plastic.

With a House Reef that hosts over 150 species of tropical fish, including the majestic Whale Shark, Reef Sharks and a variety of Rays, Vilamendhoo aims to continuously protect and preserve the marine ecology through initiatives such as these and the daily commitment towards sensitising both guests and staff to the fragile environment.

The resort offers accommodation in 184 rooms, including 30 Jacuzzi Water Villas, 30 Jacuzzi Beach Villas, 111 Beach Villas and 13 Garden Rooms and is located in South Ari Atoll which can be reached by a scenic 25-minute seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport.
