Appointment of Mr. Suniel Shetty as Ambassador of Wellness for #MissionFitMaldives

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment is pleased to announce that Bollywood Superstar and Fitness Guru Mr. Suniel Shetty has accepted the invitation to be appointed as "Ambassador of Wellness" in Maldives.

The Ministry is committed to promote wellness and healthier lifestyle among Maldivians. In our efforts to make Maldives a fitter nation we will be starting "Mission Fit Maldives", a movement to make fitness an achievable goal for everyone across Maldives. As "Ambassador of Wellness" Mr. Suniel Shetty and his team will be working with fitness industry professionals in Maldives on our mission to make Maldives one of the Worlds healthiest nations.

Widely known for his work in the Indian film industry over the last three decades, Mr. Suniel Shetty leads Indias biggest fitness movement "Mission Fit India" in partnership with one of Indias largest media house, Hindustan Times Media Limited. Season one of Mission Fit India was conducted on 2018 as a 120-day fitness festival that was held across 43 cities in India and achieved an overall reach of approximately 200 million consumers.

Speaking on the occasion, Suniel Shetty said, "It is an honor and privilege for me to be invited by the Republic of Maldives to work with them on their mission to make Maldives a healthier nation. At the core of this association shall be the intention to help address the most common ailments and lifestyle disorders that society currently deals with. We have come together for the common intention of bustling all myths about fitness and making every household aware and interested in the simplicity of the ways of staying healthy. I am delighted to be a part of His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solihs vision to make Maldives a fitter nation and I look forward to working with Minister Ahmed Mahloof and his team on this mission"

The objective of Mission Fit Maldives shall be to encourage every Maldivian to adapt a fitter lifestyle and challenge the misconception that leading a healthy lifestyle is a complex, time consuming and arduous task.

Commenting on Mission Fit Maldives, Minister Ahmed Mahloof, said "Promoting wellness and healthy lifestyle is one the most pledges of this government. The aim of this movement is to simplify fitness for every citizen of this country. As part of our efforts to promote fitness we have commenced a program to appoint a trained sports counsellor for each island. The main responsibility of this counsellor is to conduct fitness programs for the citizens of the island. Additionally, with the assistance of Indian government we have started the process of installing outdoor gyms in 61 islands. Our aim is to install an outdoor gym in every island within the next two years, strengthening our efforts to build a healthier nation. We are grateful to Mr. Shetty for readily agreeing to support our vision and look forward to welcoming him in the Maldives very soon. Mr. Shettys participation will be a huge boost to make Mission Fit Maldives a success"
