Velana International Airport witness record no. of flights for the 3rd time

Velana International Airport has witnessed a record number of flights on 22nd December 2019.

The new traffic record reached 239 runway movements, informed Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). The first record was in February with 219 flights and the second was in December 1 with 226 flights. 

This most recent record is the 3rd to be broken with a record number of 239 flights including 101 international flights, 121 domestic flights and 17 AD-Hoc flights.

MACL revealed that these records were broken on Sundays, the most busiest day of the week. Furthermore, according to MACL, the safety of passengers and aircrafts are prioritized as massive number of tourists are visiting the country during the holidays.
